Definitely one of the biggest "oh my God, what have we done" kind of afternoons with five different sets of subs either tearing something apart, making some kind of loud noise with the air smelling as though something's burning or there's a toxic substance in use.

The day started with the subs ready to install the new water lateral.  My vision of what was to come wasn't even close to what I came home to at mid-day.  I had no understanding how much dirt was going to come out of the trench they had to dig.  Everything went like clockwork with the new line connected in the basement around 1:30 pm.  The only thing holding up further progress was the required inspection which was completed by 2:30 pm.  With the line out to the main already copper (thank goodness as we are responsible for that section as well), we now have the cleanest water on the block.

Carpenters framed in two new window openings in and around the first floor bathroom.  We've taken the existing 2-4 window that was on the south wall and put it on the east side of the bathroom (which now has a great view to the Golden City Brewery).  The opening on the south wall had to be moved to accommodate the bathroom so we shifted it slightly to the west and put in a 2-0 window.

Plumbers were able to connect the new water lateral and then worked on the vents for the new boiler.

Electricians continued their rage against drywall and plaster and are all but finished with the first floor of the apartment.

The siding demolition crew knocked out the remaining siding by lunch.  New siding goes up starting on Monday.
