End of day 5 and the first week of renovation.  Good progress on demolition and initial framing of the furred-out kitchen walls and rough-in of the new first floor bathroom.  Plumbers made great progress in running the plastic hot water heat pipes though the cost of the new heating system has completely busted the budget.  At least 2X what I initially thought it would cost.  Still waiting on another electrical bid as well as running a new water main from the curb (as the old one is galvanized pipe).

Another discussion with the kitchen designer has us removing the counter top return near the new door by the mud room to better open the space.  The kitchen will now be more galley-like with an L-shape on the north wall (as opposed to a U-shape as originally designed).

Next week will include demolition of the apartment bathroom and closets in the apartment bedrooms as well as cutting the new doorway to the mud room and the new entrance from the pantry to the apartment, both of which are through brick walls.  It's going to be dusty.
