Old Photographs

Thanks to Sandi Hampton Jones, we have some fantastic photographs of our house, the neighborhood and the people that used to live here.

An undated photograph of Dr. Leslie C. Anderson who purchased the home in 1930.  This was possibly taken in his Washington Avenue dentist office prior to moving the practice to the back of the house in what is now the apartment area.  The second photograph is his State of Colorado Dental License dated June 9th, 1910.

July 1953 Special Tax Stamp for Opium, Coca Leaves, Marihuana, Etc. for Dr. Leslie C. Anderson.

An undated photograph of a colorized and framed picture of two houses and a garden on 11th Street with Castle Rock in the background with a similar view of the house today.

An undated colorized and matted photograph of a man and his garden of flowers.

Undated photographs of a garden, two cars and two houses.  Mount Zion and the Mines "M" ca be seen in the background.

An undated photograph of a young girl on roller skates across the street from our house (far right) as well as 1014 12th Street and the George West House (far left).  This is probably Evelyn (Evie) Anderson.  Her father purchased the house at 1014 12th Street in 1917 and then our house in 1930.  Her and her husband John moved into 1014 12th Street after their marriage in 1937 (which took place in the living room of our home).

June 1959 photograph of a woman and two children on the porch of the George West House at 1018 12th Street which was built in 1871.

An undated photograph of a dirt street with Castle Rock in the distance.  The outline of the old dance hall at the top can be seen.

Photograph taken on March 10, 1927 of an unidentified young woman on the porch of the the Simon E. Parshall House at 1014 12th Street (an Edwardian Vernacular built in 1892) which is between our house and the George West House (in background).

An undated photograph of a man looking over a flower garden with the foothills in the distance.

An undated colorized photograph of a garage and some flowers.

An undated photograph of a garage, two cars and two houses with Mount Zion ("M") and Lookout Mountain in the distance.

An undated photograph of a man in a flower garden with the foothills in the distance.

Photograph dated June 1959 taken on the porch of the George West House of a woman and two children.

An undated photograph of a garage, a house and Castle Rock.  This is the black and white original of the colorized photo at the top of the page.

An undated photograph of a tree-lined dirt street in Golden (probably 12th street) looking west to the School of Mines "M" on Mount Zion.

An undated photograph of a man in a flower garden with the foothills in the distance.

An undated photograph (though probably around 1948) of 12th Street kids lined up by height in what appears to be our back yard (as the clothes line pole is still there).  Labeled on the back, from left to right Johnny (Hampton), Susan Eakle, Mary Anne Green, Peggy Green, Sandy Hampton, Billy Green, Jimmy Green, Jimy Eakle and Kathy Green.  We purchased the house from Johnny and Sandy Hampton after their mother, Evelyn's (Evie) passing.

An undated photograph of two girls (most likely Evelyn and Annabelle Anderson) in front of an unidentified house (though I believe it is the back of 1014 12th Street).

An undated photograph of a cat on the hood of an old car in the snow across the street from 1014 12th Street and the George West House.  Through the window of the car, you can see the word "DAIRY" on the side of a delivery truck and a man sitting on the porch of 1014 12th Street.

Photograph dated August 1950 of an unidentified young girl in front of the George West House.

Photograph dated March 10, 1927 on the porch of 1014 12th Street of an unidentified young woman (though most likely Evelyn Anderson) holding a cat.

An undated photograph of a young girl and a cat in the front yard of 1014 12th Street with the George West House in the background.  Based on her age, this could be Evelyn (Evie) Anderson (Hampton).

Photograph dated 1952 of kids in swimsuits standing between 1014 12th Street and the George West House.  The house has three electric meters which probably indicates it had been divided into three apartments.

An undated photograph of a flower garden with North Table Mountain in the background.  An old water heater or water tank is being used as a flower planter.

Photograph dated November 1948 of Sandy (Sandra) Hampton (Jones) and her dog in front of 1014 12th Street with the George West House in the background.

An undated photograph of flower garden and mountains.

Photograph dated August 24, 1934 of two men and a dog in front of a flower garden.

Various photographs of our house and 12th street.  The bottom left photograph is a picture of Dr. Anderson's parents on the porch of 1014 12th Street which Dr. Anderson purchased in 1917.

(L to R) Evelyn Anderson, an interview with Evelyn (12/5/02), Dr. Leslie and Helen Anderson - 1941, a newspaper clipping of John and Evelyn's wedding in 1937, Dr Anderson with his newspaper route and John and Evie Hampton with their cat and their son Johnny born on the east side of 1010 12th (1943).

Helen Anderson probably holding Johnny Hampton.  Second photograph labeled "Leslie C. Anderson Age 17".  Third photograph labeled "Leslie C. Anderson 1910.  University of Denver Dental College".  The last photograph is Dr. Anderson age 7.

John Hampton and Evie Anderson Hampton on their wedding day in the living room and in the front yard of 1010 12th Street on June 29th, 1937, the same day as her parents 26th wedding anniversary.  These pictures suggest that the arch between the living and dining rooms was not original to the structure.  Also, there is a chandelier shown in the photos which is no longer there.

Photograph taken December 28th, 1947 in the dining room of 1010 12th Street.  All of the stained door and window casing was painted over the years.

Family gathering in the front yard in 1947.

Family gathering in the front of 1010 12th Street in 1949.

Undated photograph but has to be before 1949 as the addition to the back of the house where Dr. Anderson's dentist office is not built yet.

Dr. Anderson and his wife Helen.

The front porch of 1010 12th with a sign that reads "DR. ANDERSON'S OFFICE Use Side Door".

Photograph captioned: "The Prisbey home.  Built by Reynolds.  12th Street.  City fire siren on tower.  June 1966".  This is the house in which Evie Anderson was born on 4/1/15 which was next door to the Astor House (the home has long since been torn down).

Dr. Anderson and a big snow storm on 12th Street.  This is possibly his seven passenger Nash automobile.

Photograph dated March 1960 of Helen and Dr. Leslie Anderson.

Photograph dated Summer 1953 taken on the front porch.

John and Evelyn in front of 1010 12th Street.  Note the herringbone sidewalk.

Annabelle and Evelyn with their mother standing between 1010 and 1014.  The photo shows 1010 before a second story window was added and a very unique roofline.
